I've just made my own home-made, money saving Laundry Gel for use in my front loader washing machine, as mentioned in Wendy's article. The above photos were the results - and I am glad to mentioned that my Gel really turned into GEL and I am very satisfied with the product.
I've only used half the quantity and got 2 x 3/4 buckets (space to leave to stir or shake the bucket) plus 1/3 of a bucket as well. This 1/3 bucket I've showed my friend visiting me, she wanted to try it out as well, and gave me some money for it! She said she will be back with the white bucket to collect some more Wizzard Laundry Gel soon.
The white bucket cost under R10 (you have to cost your time, label cost and petrol to fetch it too) - so you can cost it in your price. I've mentioned to her that I haven't worked out the cost of the Gel yet, or tried it in my front loader washing machine, but she said that she'll try it out and let me know how she likes it. So she may become my first customer and through her, I may receive more orders by word of mouth!
I've bought all the above products at PicknPay Hyper by the Sea - the cost maybe a bit more than what Wendy has paid for her products as the names differ I think.
I have a factory/company who can print the fancy labels for me too that is close to home here in Pinetown, so if I find this product is giving me a very good wash and soft laundry, I may consider bringing it on the market as a low cost laundry product, thereby creating jobs!
A long-handled white plastic measuring spoon of 50ml is ample for doing one normal load of washing. So you have to cost the price of a measuring spoon as well, or sell it without the spoon (which I may do).
So look in your grocery cupboards for opportunities to start a home-grown business too!
