How To Make Chilli

It a good thing to learn how to make chilli as it is a nourishing meal that can be eaten in many different ways. Here are my 3 favourite homemade chilli recipes.

How to make chilli – recipe with ground beef

1 onion chopped
1 tablespoon of garlic minced
2 medium strength chillies
2 tomatoes, cubed
500g ground beef
1 teaspoon each of: cumin, coriander, beef stock powder, salt and a sprinkle of pepper.
1 cup of water
Oil to fry

Fry the onion, chillies and garlic then add the ground beef. Cook until well browned. Add all the seasonings stir well. Add the tomatoes and the water. Stir and allow the heat to rise. Put a lid on and turn the stove plate down. Allow to cook for about 20 minutes.

You can also add some corn or cooked red beans to bulk this up.

This basic chilli can be served over brown rice with cubed avocado and grated cheese. It can also be rolled up with cilantro, cheese and avocado in a tortilla. You could also make it into tortilla pie by layering it between tortillas and pouring 250ml of cream over and baking it. If you are feeling adventurous you can make quesadillas with it too!

How to make chilli – recipe with beans

This is such a tasty chilli recipe for those who prefer a vegetarian chilli recipe.

how to make chilli 500g cooked red beans
2 large onions
3-4 cloves of garlic
2 jalapeno chillies
2-3 medium carrots
2 teaspoons cumin
A small can of tomato puree
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
2 teaspoons salt
1 cup of water

Fry the onion, chillies and garlic then add the peeled chopped carrots. Add all the seasonings stir well. Add the beans and the water. Stir and allow the heat to rise. Put a lid on and turn the stove plate down. Allow to cook for about 20 minutes.



This bean chilli can be served over brown rice with cubed avocado and grated cheese. It can also be rolled up with cilantro, cheese and avocado in a home made tortilla

How to make chilli – recipe with chicken

8 chicken breast fillets finely sliced in strips
2 tablespoon olive oil
2 onions, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup cream cheese
1/2 cup cream
1 cup Cheddar cheese
4 fresh tomatoes
2 chopped mild chillies
3 chopped fresh cilantro
1 cup cream
12 soft tortillas
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Heat oil in heavy pan and sauté onions and garlic until softened, add chicken strips and cook until almost done. Beat cream cheese until smooth and add the cream. Mix well. Stir in chicken, onions, and garlic. Add crumbled cheese and set aside.

In food processor bowl or blender, place tomatoes and chillies. Puree or blend until smooth. Add chillies, chopped cilantro, and 1 cup cream. warm the tortillas in microwave then fill tortillas with cream cheese/chicken mixture, roll up, and place in glass baking dish. Pour tomato sauce over filled enchiladas and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 20-30 minutes until bubbly and heated through. Serves 10
