Home Made Salsa

I love salsa as I love Mexican food! Here are my two favourite home made salsa recipes. One is a raw salsa, which I prefer, the other is a cooked salsa.

Cooked salsa

1 medium onion
2 cloves of garlic
3 large tomatoes
1 teaspoon of cumin
½ teaspoon of majorum
1 teaspoon chilli powder
Black pepper
1 teaspoon hot chilli sauce

Put the onion and garlic into a blender and process until fine. Add the tomatoes and blend again, but leave a little chunky. Add the seasonings. Place in a pan on the stove over a medium heat for 5 minutes.

You can use this salsa hot or cold with your choice of Mexican meal.

Raw salsa

home made salsa These ingredients make roughly one large bowl of salsa. The trick is to chop everything very finely.

2 mild chillies, chopped
2 large tomatoes, chopped
1 large onion, chopped
1 large bunch of fresh cilantro, chopped

Mix them all together.

Serve with your favourite chilli
