We have been cruising/sailing for 10 years, living on our yacht whilst circumnavigating.
We make our own fresh water from the sea with a desalinator, use wind and solar generators for energy.
We recycle all our garbage, only biodegrades go into the sea. The containers, empty tins and bottles are washed and stored until we get to the next island. our “trash” is a valuable commodity and we trade our trash for fresh fruit and veggies.
