FLOWERS THAT KEEP INSECTS AT BAY

White Petunia

White Petunia

White Petunia

Borage flowers

Nasturtium

Yellow Marigolds

Throughout the years I’ve learned to make use of certain plants to assist me to keep insects at bay, thereby increasing my vegetable and herb yield annually. There are so many such flowers but my favourite ones that work for me are the following:

White Petunias and Borage flowers – attract bees
White Yarrow – the plant doctor – keeps plants healthy (but remove it after a year due to an excess of copper? mineral build-up).

White Chrysanthemums daisy – the miniature ones
Marigolds – try the miniature ones – clear soil of nematodes Nasturtiums – removing aphids etc. from plants as they get infected and not your plants, so you can removed the infected parts easily!

These plants are only a few of so many, but you need enough space for your own crops – so plant your crops on the sunny side of the container/bed and these plants on the more shadier side, so your crops will benefit the most from the sun.

Have you noticed that white flowers are more popular in gardens now-a-days, showing off their colour more brighter than other coloured flowers, so home-owners can enjoy their gardens at night after working all day.
